It’s normal to lose your “fire” but something that reignites that spark is your geng, clique, circle, or community (I don’t know what you cool kids call it now). But a community has to be a part of your growth process if you want to make it far and hard (a punch that leaves a mark).

Hi, Techie! International Women’s Day was awesome. I am always extra pumped to see women win. It gives you the strength to dream big and know it’s achievable. To every woman, you are amazing. Let’s dive into some tea, shall we?

To be honest, I didn’t really think that communities worked. They seemed to me like a means of people being used like “milk”. Although this is the case, we have authentic communities that genuinely care about your development. Permit me to share my story. Despite the fact that I was still very new to the tech world and didn’t understand anything, I joined She Code Africa. The idea that they continuously shared opportunities and operated more like a sisterhood really stood out to me. Then, thanks to a kind friend of mine named Tami, I discovered Women In Data. I was able to raise questions that had been bothering me for the first time in data, and they also gave me an incredible accountability partner in Rosemary. It was through these communities I heard about a Web 3 event but I had no idea about the space till my amazing partner introduced me to Women In Defi.

A community helps you solidify what you know and connects you to people just like YOU to help you grow. Communities are there to even give you opportunities and an edge that isn’t accessible to just ONE individual. You can ride on recommendations and get encouragement when you think something is impossible. When I started this safe space, a large number of my readers were community members, without them I wouldn’t have come this far.

And to community builders and founders, you are the real deal. It is through your impact many many lives are changed. It is through you many ideas, opportunities, and relationships are built. Here’s a very big shout-out to every community builder, founder, and active member. You are the best!

It’s a super short read, yes but let’s wrap this up with my gift to you.
