Failure?

As the year comes to an end and we start to reflect, we can’t help but be overwhelmed by negativity and the “I could have done better” syndrome. But how does that help matters? You can’t rewrite the past; you can just pick up lessons to help shape the future. Life in itself isn’t linear, and that’s what makes it fun.

A habit I’ve picked up this year is journaling but more of reflecting on the good. What are you grateful for? You’d find out that even though we didn’t hit our targets, there’s so much to be grateful for. I was filled with joy as I saw God help me in my relationship with people. I was more intentional about the people around me.

But can we call that failure? For not hitting our precise target? I don’t like the word failure and to be fair, I wouldn’t call it a failure but rather a redirection. Life will never go as planned and that’s the thrill but that also doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have a plan. Think of a plan as a shock absorber. It helps us like a compass, it guides us.

I think it’s time we view life through a different lens. Maybe it’s time to switch things up and break things down. For starters, make milestones bite-worthy. Make it progressive, tiny steps leading up to huge results. If you’d love to save $100 maybe a great start is $1 per day. It sounds small, but by doing that consistently for 100 days, you’d have hit your target, which is much better than nothing.

We also lose a sense of urgency but we need to wake up from that dream. Things should have deadlines. You’ll not be young forever. You need to set up a system that works now. Build and Invest for the future.

Not to make this a long read I will wrap things up here. As this marks my 11th read of 12, Thank you for sticking with me for another year. 2025 will be an amazing year but I can't wait for our recap of the year.
